Big Spring Reproduction Analysis

This is a video analysis on reproduction in Big Spring and why historically the brook trout do better than rainbows or browns in the upper areas. The PFBC seems to ignore this data no matter what.  They are still claiming that Big Spring historically was a good brook trout stream  Yes, I know that sounds crazy but even in Austen's presentation at the great Big Spring Symposium he tried to infer we don't really know this or that...it just never ends. Despite an extemely small population of brook trout in the stream at the close of the hatchery the population in the upper areas now surpasses the rainbows and browns much to the chagrin of the Austen and PFBC.

This video covers the following points on Brook Trout Reproduction in Big Spring:

Brook trout have an advantage in the upper areas of Big Spring due to substrate size

Brook Trout mature earlier and reproduce earlier than Brown or Rainbow Trout in Big Spring

The upper areas of Big Spring have upwellings and downwelling which the brook trout utilize better than browns or rainbows

Brook trout spawn better in the thin veneers of gravel in the upper area of big spring
